Why graffiti is a problem
Some people may think graffiti is an art but this simply is not the case. Graffiti is criminal damage, nothing more nothing less.
It is estimated to cost over £1billion each year to remove graffiti throughout England and Wales. In Hull, the cost of removing graffiti is becoming an expensive problem. Ultimately, the cost of removing graffiti is paid for by you, whether as a local taxpayer, the owner of the property affected by graffiti, or as a business owner.
As with all other cities throughout England and Wales graffiti can be found in various forms throughout Hull. Ranging from drawings and scribbles to pictures, messages and tags graffiti can be painted, sprayed, etched, scratched or written on walls, fences, garages and other similar surfaces.
Commonly, graffiti is seen as a sign of decline, which both reduces people's satisfaction with where they live and their quality of life.
